Our Wine tasting event held at the fabulous 5th Street Restaurant was a great success!
Attended by a wide selection of wine lovers ready to try the selection available through at Global Shelf.
As the guests started to filter in after their working week, they were greeted with a glass of the Toi Toi Sparkling Rose: “This Sparkling Rosé is bubbly and pink! Light cherry / strawberry in colour, the nose is reminiscent of crushed wild red berries and juicy ripe melon. Our blend of Riesling and Merlot promises a palate that is bursting with summer fresh red stone fruits, hints of cherry, lime and lemon zest, topped off with a cranberry twist.”
It was agreed that this wine is reminiscent of a warm summers day, and would be perfect for a Wedding event or watching the Polo!
Next we tasted the Toi Toi Pinot Gris: “Pour a glass of the Toi Toi Pinot Gris and you will be greeted with pear and apple aromas. Enjoy the rich and savoury palate, which is loaded with peach, pear and quince. Perfectly supported by a well-integrated acidity. This wine is just gorgeous.”
This fine example of a Pinot Gris would be wonderful matched with Thai food for example a spicy Laksa soup or traditional Phad Thai.
The Richmond Plains Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay’s were next on the tasting list. The Blue Moon Sauvignon Blanc: “A delicious and elegant wine it has beautiful lime, lemongrass and wild fennel aromas and taste. Barrel aging has created a fine structure and mineral texture with distinctive sea air notes. ”
The Chardonnay: “Attractive peach and vanilla aromas. Fresh fruity peach and nectarine flavours with a refreshing citrus finish and a subtle touch of oak.” Both wines are from an Organic and Biodynamic winery and the taste clarity is very evident.
We also tried a Riesling, Blanc de Noir and St Laurent wines which are all wonderful examples of the regions terroir.
As the restaurant filled up, we finished by tasting the beautifully elegant Pinot Noir from Black Ridge wines: “The 2014 Pinot Noir has been hand-picked and matured in French oak barrels. Delicate aromas and flavours of raspberries and sweet black cherries. This wine has velvety fruit tannins with peppery spicy edges. A long persistent fruit and spice finish.
This was one of the favourites of the evening and was a popular choice to add to the guests wine cellars.
Look out for the next Wine Tasting evening so that you don’t miss out!
